Daniel Farke Leeds United Press Conference

LEEDS, England — Ahead of Saturday’s matchup against AFC Bournemouth at Elland Road, Leeds United manager Daniel Farke provided an update on his squad’s fitness during a press conference.

The Whites enter the match unbeaten in their first two home games and fresh off a 3-1 victory over Wolverhampton in their last outing. Farke opened the press conference by discussing the availability of players, stating, “Overall in terms of injuries, some mixed news.”

Farke confirmed that defender Jayden Bogle has returned to team training after overcoming a bruised foot that had raised concerns. “It was nothing too serious, just a bruise that was a bit sore and painful in the first few days,” Farke said. “He will be available if nothing major happens.”

In positive news, winger Daniel James has made progress in his rehabilitation and rejoined the squad for training. “Yesterday was the first time he joined us in team training and he has a chance to be involved depending on how his body reacts,” Farke noted.

However, Farke delivered some unfortunate news regarding Willy Gnonto, who will miss the match due to a calf issue. “He is not back in team training,” Farke added. “I hope to have him back in team training next week.”

The manager also addressed goalkeeper Lucas Perri’s absence due to injury but expressed satisfaction with Karl Darlow’s performance in his stead. “It is not a difficult decision because Lucas has not joined us in team training yet,” Farke said. “Karl has a great chance to play again if he stays fit.”

Farke anticipates that Perri could rejoin the squad next week, though he cautioned that it will take time for him to fully regain his form. “Once he is back in team training, it doesn’t mean he will be back to his best immediately,” Farke explained.

Leeds United hopes to build on their recent success as they face a formidable Bournemouth side that has had a strong start to the season.
