Leighton Meester Joins Season 2 of Hit Show as New Character

Los Angeles, CA – Leighton Meester is set to join the cast of the popular Netflix series “Nobody Wants This” for its second season. The news broke during the season 2 premiere, causing a buzz across social media.
According to the show’s creator, the idea to cast Meester came from co-showrunner Jenni Konner. “It was honestly Jenni’s idea, and it was brilliant of her,” the creator told The Hollywood Reporter. “I’d just seen Leighton at the SAG Awards — we all thought she was cute, sweet, and funny. I mentioned how great she was, and Jenni said, ‘Let’s put her in.’”
In the upcoming season, Meester will play a mommy influencer who has a complicated history with the character Joanne, portrayed by Kristen Bell. The show follows Brody’s character, Noah, known as the “Hot Rabbi,” and Joanne as they navigate their differing worldviews while falling in love.
Meester’s role primarily involves interactions with Bell and actress Justine Lupe, as her character was already written into the script before Meester’s involvement. Foster, the show’s creator, adjusted the script to include a scene between Noah and Meester’s character, which he hopes could generate humorous moments.
Adam Brody, who plays Noah, stated that it wasn’t a requirement for him and his wife to share scenes. “The point was we got to drive to work together. I like that she was with the girls,” he explained.
Season 2 focuses on the early months of Noah and Joanne’s relationship, exploring how they learn more about each other’s friends and families. Brody expressed excitement about the new scripts, saying he found them hilarious.
As for the show’s rising popularity, Brody reflected, “It’s been the biggest thing that I’ve been associated with in quite some time. You never know if something is going to connect in a big way.”
Season two of “Nobody Wants This” premieres on Netflix on October 23.
