Leo Borg Tennis Biography Addiction

STOCKHOLM, Sweden — Leo Borg, son of tennis legend Björn Borg, is under the spotlight not only for participating in the Nordic Open but also for his father’s recently published autobiography. In it, Björn Borg reveals his struggles with cocaine addiction during dark years after his career ended.

Leo Borg, 22, expressed pride in his father’s honesty. “I am very proud of him for sharing his story,” he told SVT Sport. “It’s tough to hear about his darker times, but it’s important that he spoke out.”

Björn Borg’s biography, titled “Hjärtslag,” was released on September 18. In the book, he candidly discusses the challenges he faced post-career, including his battle with substance abuse. Leo noted that while he hasn’t read every word, he has gone through substantial parts and found them heavy.

<p“It’s heartbreaking. No one should have to go through that," Leo added. "He has shown great strength to overcome those periods in his life.”

For many years, Björn kept his struggles private, only recently deciding to share his experiences to find freedom from the past. “I am proud of him. It’s not easy to write about everything; it has been inside him for a long time. I’m glad he is getting it out there,” Leo stated.

Currently, Leo Borg is preparing for his match on Monday, October 13, where he will face Austria’s Sebastian Ofner, who is ranked 138th. Leo is ranked 641st and will be playing at Kungliga Tennishallen in Stockholm.
