Lexie Hull’s Injury Adds Pressure Ahead of WNBA Semifinals

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Indiana Fever guard Lexie Hull is once again on the injury report as the team prepares for Game 3 of the WNBA semifinals against the Las Vegas Aces on Friday. Hull is listed as probable due to a back injury.
This season, Hull has been crucial to the Fever’s performance, especially amidst an injury crisis that has sidelined several key players. During the regular season, she averaged 7.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.2 steals, playing in all 44 games. In the playoffs, Hull has stepped up her game, averaging 9.4 points and becoming one of the Fever’s top contributors.
Head coach Stephanie White commented positively on Hull’s condition, saying, “I anticipate her being ready unless there’s any sort of setback,” according to IndyStar. This comes after Hull’s strong showing in Game 2, where she scored 15 points, including five three-pointers, despite dealing with her injury.
If Hull cannot play, the Fever may rely more heavily on fellow guards, especially Kelsey Mitchell, a recent MVP finalist averaging 23.4 points per game in the playoffs. Additionally, the burden will fall on newly acquired point guard Odyssey Sims, who has been averaging 13.2 points and 5 assists per game.
The Fever will aim to take the lead in this best-of-five series against the Aces, who are led by four-time MVP A’ja Wilson, the playoffs’ standout performer thus far. The Aces secured a decisive victory in Game 2, and the Fever will need to tighten their defense and maintain balanced scoring to compete effectively.
With both teams looking to gain an advantage, Friday’s matchup promises to be a pivotal moment in this year’s playoffs.
