Lily-Rose Depp Unrecognizable in New Horror Film Werwulf
Farnham, England – Lily-Rose Depp has dramatically transformed for her role in the upcoming horror film Werwulf, where she recently spotted on set wearing heavy wool costumes and facial prosthetics that made her nearly unrecognizable.
The 26-year-old actress is reuniting with acclaimed writer-director Robert Eggers, who is known for his period horror films such as The Witch and The Lighthouse. Depp previously collaborated with Eggers on Nosferatu, and Werwulf marks their second project together. The film is set to release on December 25, 2026.
Set in 13th century England, Werwulf aims for historical authenticity through its script, which the Hollywood Reporter indicates includes dialogue true to the time period, featuring translations and annotations for those unfamiliar with Old English.
In addition to Depp, the cast includes Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Willem Dafoe, both of whom were recently seen sporting large beards on set. Ralph Ineson and Simon McBurney, also stars in Nosferatu, will join Depp and others in this historical tale.
A Hollywood Reporter article revealed that the narrative follows a “mysterious creature” that haunts the foggy English countryside, transforming local folklore into terrifying reality as villagers confront an ancient supernatural threat.
Depp continues to build on her acting career, with other projects in the pipeline. She is set to star alongside Chris Pine and Cate Blanchett in the film Alpha Gang, and she will co-star with Jacob Elordi in an adaptation of Cormac McCarthy‘s 1968 novel Outer Dark, described as a ‘dark fairytale.’
Werwulf is expected to hit theaters on December 25, 2026, solidifying Depp’s rising trajectory in the industry.
