As of November 6, 2024, San Mateo County voters are eagerly awaiting the results of various local and national elections. The presidential race between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump is one of the most closely watched contests nationwide.

Locally, several key races and measures are on the ballot. In the U.S. House of Representatives, District 16, former San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo and South Bay Assemblyman Evan Low are competing to fill the seat long held by retiring Rep. Anna Eshoo. This district includes parts of coastal San Mateo County, western Santa Clara County, and the Santa Cruz Mountains.

In the State Assembly, District 19, educator David Lee and San Francisco Supervisor Catherine Stefani are vying for the seat held by incumbent Assemblymember Phil Ting, who is termed out of office.

San Mateo County residents are also deciding on several local positions, including the East Palo Alto City Council and an available county supervisor seat. Additionally, voters are considering Pacifica’s Measure M, which addresses local issues.

The election results are being updated in real time, with the first results report released at 8:10 p.m. on election night, including Vote by Mail ballots received by November 1. Further updates will be provided every hour until all Vote Center ballots have been reported.

The San Mateo County Clerk’s office has reported that as of November 2, 2024, 180,426 Vote by Mail ballots and 7,211 Vote Center ballots had been received. The final results will be certified on December 5.
