NEW YORK, NY — Oscar-winning entertainer Liza Minnelli revealed a new children’s project titled ‘Lil Liza‘ in a heartfelt social media post on her 79th birthday, March 12. The project is inspired by childhood fantasies and aims to spread joy through music and dance.

In her announcement, Minnelli shared a black and white photo of herself as a child practicing ballet, stating, “It’s time to share news with you. My children’s project based on the little girl fantasies that everyone has… becomes a reality soon.” She described the project as featuring a young girl, Lil Liza, and her best friend, Michael, who will travel the world singing, dancing, and spreading joy.

“Many people say my god-mother wrote ‘Eloise‘ based on my experiences at the Plaza Hotel,” she added, hinting at personal connections in her creative vision. Minnelli thanked several collaborators, including Jon Carrasco and Stephen Roseberry of Carrberry Companies, and Victoria Varela of V2 Entertainment Group, for their support.

Fans and friends were quick to celebrate the news, with comments such as, “Looking forward to it! You’re so amazing!” and “Sooooo glad you and Michael will be doing this!” expressing excitement for the new endeavor.

Despite experiencing limited performances in recent years, the star has remained creatively active. Earlier this year, she announced a new album of duets with American crooner Michael Feinstein, marking her first recorded release in over a decade. Additionally, her memoir is set to be published in 2026, and a documentary titled ‘Liza: A Truly Terrific Absolutely True Story’ is scheduled for release in the UK later this year.

The documentary focuses on her life and career, detailing her journey after the death of her mother, Judy Garland, in 1969. Director Bruce David Klein remarked, “I think she is still at her best and happiest when she is working.” Minnelli herself shared on camera, “I love performing and I still take dance lessons. I still feel that when I sing to people in a theatre, I’m not just giving a performance, I’m sharing my love with each individual person.”
