Liza Minnelli Honored at Inaugural Gala of the Stars Event
Liza Minnelli, the renowned stage and screen icon, was in high spirits as she attended the inaugural Gala of the Stars event held at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills on Wednesday evening. The 78-year-old actress and singer received a Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of her enduring contributions to the entertainment world.
The Gala of the Stars is designed to honor legends in the field of dance while supporting the Dancers Against Cancer initiative. This organization focuses on providing financial assistance to individuals in the dance community who are facing cancer. The event was a star-studded affair, which brought together icons from various entertainment sectors.
Minnelli, best known for her roles in iconic musicals such as “Cabaret,” made quite an impression in a sparkly black shirt paired with black velvet trousers and ankle boots. She accessorized her ensemble with pearl stud earrings and added a splash of color with her red lipstick. Once on stage, Minnelli exuded confidence and joy as she addressed the assembled audience.
Among the notable attendees was actress Tori Spelling, who dazzled in a striking red gown, and singer JoJo Siwa, who opted for a fashion-forward ensemble with a Gucci tracksuit. Parris Goebel, known for her work as a dancer and choreographer, was honored with the Dance Innovator Award. Kyle Hanagami received the Vanguard Award, and Jamal Sims was presented with the Trailblazer Award. Paula Abdul was also recognized with the Dance Icon Award.
The evening blended elegance with philanthropy, offering breathtaking performances alongside heartfelt tributes. Event producer Noah Lands and Industry Dance Awards President Adrian Ruiz were pivotal in orchestrating the gala.
Minnelli’s appearance at the event comes amid her announcement in August regarding her upcoming memoir, slated for release in the spring of 2026. This publication follows her frustrations over previous inaccurate portrayals of her life. She has partnered with Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Heidi Evans and former New York Times bureau chief Josh Getlin to pen her story, with additional contributions from her long-time friend Michael Feinstein.
