London Marathon 2026 Ballot Opens: How to Enter

LONDON, England — The 2026 TCS London Marathon ballot opens today, April 25, 2025, and runs until May 2, 2025. Aspiring runners can submit their applications online for a chance to participate in the famous 26.2-mile race scheduled for April 26, 2026.
Last year, more than 840,000 hopefuls applied for just 17,000 ballot spaces, making it one of the most competitive marathons globally. Those interested in entering the ballot can do so for free through the official London Marathon website.
Once applicants enter the ballot, they will be notified by email of their status during the summer of 2025. If selected, UK runners must pay an entry fee of £69.99, while international participants will pay £146.
In addition to the ballot, there are alternative ways to secure a place in the marathon. Runners can gain entry through charity sponsorships. Many charities offer slots to supporters who commit to raising funds on their behalf. Others can also use a “Good for Age” qualification, which is based on prior marathon performance relative to their age group.
The London Marathon has garnered a reputation as one of the largest fundraising events globally, raising millions for various charities each year. In 2024 alone, participants raised approximately £67 million.
As the date approaches, officials remind participants to prepare adequately by training and securing their travel plans. The race will take place on its traditional route, starting in Greenwich and finishing at The Mall, in front of Buckingham Palace.
The competition promises not only the thrill of the race but also a festive atmosphere fueled by thousands of cheering spectators lining the streets. Don’t miss your chance to be a part of this iconic event!
