Des Moines Iowa Traffic Crash I 35/80

DES MOINES, Iowa — Long delays were reported on Interstate 35/80 on Thursday, June 26, 2025, due to a crash that blocked two lanes of traffic. According to the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT), the incident occurred in the westbound lanes near Clive, resulting in a 17-minute delay for drivers.

The crash was first reported around 11:20 a.m. Initially, the lanes were significantly obstructed, causing a backup for vehicles attempting to commute through the area. Video footage from the scene showed emergency responders working to clear the wreckage.

By midday, the situation had begun to improve, with reports indicating that traffic was starting to return to normal. Although slow conditions remained, the Iowa DOT confirmed that the blocked sections were reopening, and delays were decreasing. No serious injuries were reported from the accident.

In another incident on the same interstate, a crash occurred near Northwest Beaver Drive, causing further traffic disruptions. As of 6:45 p.m. on June 19, 2025, the lanes had reopened after cleanup efforts, but drivers experienced delays, particularly on the eastbound side.

The Iowa Department of Transportation continues to monitor traffic conditions and encourages drivers to stay updated on road openings and traffic alerts.
