Long-serving broadcaster Sarah Walker has bid farewell to her 18-year tenure at BBC Radio Berkshire, expressing gratitude for the listener support she received over the years.

Walker, who kickstarted her radio career at 2-Ten FM in Reading 24 years ago before joining BBC in 2006, decided to transition into the education sector for new challenges.

Reflecting on her time at the station, she acknowledged being part of significant events like the Covid-19 pandemic, the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, and the Forbury Gardens tragedy.

Over in the South West, more than 160 swimmers, including participants like Pedro Jimenez from Spain, took on the 3km swim in Plymouth to raise funds for the Chestnut Appeal, a prostate cancer charity.

The charity event, monitored by safety marshals on various watercraft, ended at Mount Batten beach where Cillian McCarthy emerged as the first swimmer to complete the challenging course.

Previous winner Reece Worth shared his experience of the race, noting the initial speed that led to fatigue towards the end, highlighting the physical demands of the charitable swim.
