Longwe Twala Court

JOHANNESBURG – The case involving Longwe Twala, son of renowned musician and producer Chicco Twala, has been postponed until September 25, 2024. The postponement was announced in the Randburg Magistrate's Court on Monday, following a request from his Legal Aid attorneys, who require more time to prepare a bail application.

Longwe Twala was taken into custody in August 2024 under allegations of theft, involving the unlawful entry into his father’s studio. He stands accused of stealing equipment and various household goods, purportedly valued at over R200,000. Reports suggest that during the incident, Longwe was under the influence of substances.

On a related note, Longwe Twala’s name has also surfaced in the ongoing murder trial of former South African soccer star Senzo Meyiwa. It is anticipated that Longwe will be called to testify concerning certain allegations connected to that case.

During the proceedings presided over by Magistrate Abdul Khan, Longwe Twala remained in custody. His lawyer cited the necessity of additional preparation time as the primary reason for the request to delay the bail hearing.

The case has generated significant public and media interest, with many observers keenly awaiting further developments and Longwe Twala’s testimony in the highly scrutinized Meyiwa trial.
