Mallikarjun Kharge Named Chairperson Of India Bloc, Congratulated By Aap Minister

Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj extended his congratulations to Congress party president Mallikarjun Kharge for being appointed as the chairperson of the opposition’s INDIA bloc. Emphasizing Kharge’s stature as a respected leader, Bharadwaj expressed that his new role is an encouraging development.

Speaking about the INDIA Bloc‘s decision, Bharadwaj highlighted the importance of Mallikarjun Kharge’s leadership, stating that all alliance partners hold him in high regard and listen to his guidance. He mentioned that Kharge’s life story is marked by struggles, and he has been a prominent Dalit leader.

The INDIA Bloc, comprising various opposition parties including the Congress, aims to challenge the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections scheduled for April-May.

Sharad Pawar, the president of the Nationalist Congress Party, confirmed that all members of the INDIA bloc agreed to appoint Mallikarjun Kharge as the chairperson during a virtual meeting. The bloc also formed a committee to strategize and reinforce their alliance.

While the specific details of seat-sharing and coordination among the INDIA bloc parties are yet to be finalized, discussions are underway to strengthen the alliance’s prospects. Leaders like Salman Kurshid, Ashok Ghelot, and Bhupesh Baghel are engaging in talks with Congress representatives.

The article also mentions that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar rejected the proposal to become the convenor of the INDIA alliance. Additionally, it highlights the presence of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin and party leader Kanimozhi Karunanidhi from the DMK at the virtual meeting.

The INDIA alliance, an inclusive coalition of opposition parties, is focused on preventing the BJP-led NDA from securing another term in power at the Centre.
