During the early hours of Tuesday, a terrifying home invasion rocked a residence in Carnes Hill, a suburb of Sydney.

Authorities responded to the incident on Mary Wade Place around 12:45 am, where they found a 25-year-old man with gunshot wounds to his right leg.

The victim was quickly attended to by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being transferred to Liverpool Hospital in serious condition.

The assailants, described as eight men wearing masks, forcibly entered the home, encountering the resident who ultimately suffered two gunshot wounds.

Petrol was then reportedly poured inside the residence but mercifully not ignited, creating a harrowing scene of violence and intimidation.

A car parked in the driveway sustained damage from shotgun fire during the chaos before the intruders made their getaway in two separate vehicles.

Authorities believe the attack was targeted and have launched a thorough investigation into the incident.

Individuals with any information pertinent to the case are urged to contact the local law enforcement or reach out to Crime Stoppers.
