Manhattan Beach Celebrates 53rd Hometown Fair This Weekend

MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif. — The 53rd annual Manhattan Beach Hometown Fair is set to take place this weekend, Oct. 4-5, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. This free event will showcase local culture with traditional snacks, performances, and activities throughout the city.
The fair will be held at several locations including Live Oak Park, Dorsey Field, and the Joslyn Center. Attendees can look forward to rides, games, a parade, and numerous vendor booths managed by nonprofits. All proceeds from food and game booths will benefit various local causes.
In addition to food and games, fairgoers can interact with animals at the petting zoo, enjoy magic shows in the Kid Country area, and sip drinks in the beer and wine gardens. The community showcase will feature local artists and talents, while the customary battle of the bands will return on Saturday morning. Everyone is invited to come together and celebrate their hometown pride.
This year marks a special tribute as one performance stage honors a beloved local musician who played at the fair for more than 40 years. The musician, who passed away in a car crash months before last year’s fair, is remembered fondly by the community.
Since its inception in 1972, the fair has thrived thanks to volunteers and donations, relying on no outside sponsors to keep the tradition alive. The event was officially incorporated as a nonprofit in 1977 to better support local initiatives.
Community members are encouraged to come out, enjoy the activities, and contribute to the lasting legacy of the Hometown Fair.
