WILKESBORO, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina Republican gubernatorial candidate Mark Robinson announced plans to rebuild his campaign staff on Monday following the resignation of several top aides. This move comes after a CNN report alleged that Robinson made explicit racial and sexual remarks on a pornography website’s message board years ago. Robinson, who currently serves as the state’s lieutenant governor, informed that his senior adviser, campaign manager, and two other senior staff members had resigned. Meanwhile, the Republican Governors Association (RGA) has distanced itself from supporting his campaign.

The CNN report has sparked controversy and led to significant upheaval within Robinson’s campaign structure. Robinson denies the allegations, describing them as “salacious tabloid lies” and assured that his campaign is in the process of hiring new staff. “We’re receiving offers from skilled and dedicated people who wish to support our campaign,” Robinson stated during a recent campaign event held at the Olympic Family Restaurant in Colfax, N.C.
