LOS ANGELES, CA — The new animated series Marvel Zombies has captured the attention of fans with its blend of action and horror, debuting all episodes on Disney+ this week. The show spins off from the beloved What If…? series, featuring a terrifying world where Earth’s mightiest heroes become the undead.

In Marvel Zombies, viewers witness an outbreak caused by a virus from the Quantum Realm. The main character, Kamala Khan, is on a desperate quest to find a cure amidst the chaos. She faces formidable foes, including Scarlet Witch, now ruling over the dead.

The series strikes a nostalgic chord with its clever nods to horror classics, particularly evident in its promotional materials. One notable poster features doors struggling to contain a horde of zombified Avengers, complete with the warning “Don’t open Avengers inside,” echoing The Walking Dead’s famous “Don’t open dead inside” tagline.

Audiences can expect to see a variety of beloved characters, both living and undead. Survivors include notable figures like Spider-Man and Ant-Man, while the infected heroes range from Captain Marvel to Thanos. Notably, the series also marks the debut of Blade in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Marvel Zombies unfolds Kamala’s journey as she navigates the dangers of this new reality, filled with familiar heroes turned villains. Although this first season consists of four episodes, fans are left wondering if a follow-up season is in store.

Director Bryan Andrews hinted at the possibility of future episodes, suggesting the team has plenty of material and ideas for continuation. However, he noted that any potential new direction is still dependent on audience reaction.

As it stands, Marvel Zombies has become an engaging addition to the MCU, drawing fans into its darkly comic and gruesome narrative.
