Westfield High School Threat Response

WESTFIELD, Ind. — A large number of law enforcement agencies responded to Westfield High School on the afternoon of Monday, September 29, following an alleged threat.

A concerned parent shared a photo with 13News showing students barricading classroom doors while police worked to secure the building. Officers were seen clearing the school room by room.

Authorities confirmed to 13News that there had been no reports of gunfire or any injuries during the incident. Just before 3 p.m., many parents gathered outside the school awaiting information about their children.

In a message sent to Westfield parents, the school stated, “Westfield High School is on lockdown due to a potential threat. Out of an abundance of caution, there is a heavy police presence on campus as law enforcement works to ensure the safety of all students and staff. All students are safe at this time. We ask that you avoid the area to allow emergency personnel to respond effectively. We will provide updates as more information becomes available. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.”

Police continued to encourage residents and parents to stay clear of the area while they established a perimeter and conducted their investigation. This is a breaking news story, and updates will be provided as new information arises.
