McDonald’s Spain Launches ‘Friends’-Themed Adult Happy Meals for Sitcom’s 30th Anniversary
McDonald’s Spain has announced a special collaboration with the iconic sitcom “Friends” to celebrate its 30th anniversary since premiering on NBC. This collaboration introduces an adult Happy Meal, which promises to be a nostalgic trip for fans of the 1990s television series.
The “Friends” Happy Meal for adults comes with a choice of a Big Mac, Quarter Pounder, McRoyal Deluxe, CBO, or McChicken, along with fries and a drink. Each meal also features “Monica’s Marinara,” a specially created sauce, and collectors can obtain figurines of all six main “Friends” characters: Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Joey, Chandler, and Ross.
In a creative campaign, McDonald’s Spain transformed one of its restaurants into a replica of “Central Perk,” the famous coffee shop from the show, complete with the iconic orange couch. The promotion was shared on their social media platforms, drawing enthusiasm from both McDonald’s and “Friends” fans.
Despite the excitement in Spain, there is currently no information on whether or not this “Friends” Happy Meal will be available in the United States. However, it has sparked interest globally, particularly among millennials who grew up watching the series.
The “Friends” sitcom, which originally aired on NBC in September 1994, starred Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer. To further mark the 30th anniversary, a game show titled “Fast Friends” is set to be produced by Max. Hosted by comedian Whitney Cummings, the show will test fans’ knowledge of “Friends” through trivia, games, and puzzles in iconic settings such as Monica and Rachel’s apartment.
The game show will be produced by Warner Bros. Unscripted Television and is scheduled to begin filming next month in New York City at The Friends Experience: The One. Fans eagerly awaiting the Happy Meal in Spain will have to act quickly, as McDonald’s typically offers such themed products for a limited time only.
