Melania Trump, the former First Lady of the United States, has asserted that her son Barron Trump was denied a bank account due to political bias following their departure from the White House. In her newly released memoir, “Melania,” she describes her shock at discovering that a long-standing banking relationship had been terminated and that her son was refused the opportunity to open a new account.

Melania Trump suggests that this denial was influenced by what she calls “the venom of cancel culture,” a phenomenon she argues has escalated unchecked since the Capitol riots on January 6, 2021. “This decision appeared to be rooted in political discrimination, raising serious concerns about civil rights violations,” Melania Trump wrote.

In her book, Melania Trump refrains from naming the financial institution involved but highlights how the wider trend of cancel culture has impacted her and her family. She claims that this environment has impeded her attempts to engage in charitable work and secure business deals. “The ‘cancel mob’ now includes corporations, traditional media, influential social media figures, and cultural institutions,” she wrote, noting the socio-political implications of this trend.

Further in the memoir, Melania Trump recounts an incident where a leading tech-education company withdrew from a charity initiative she was supporting. The company is said to have made this decision due to an unwillingness to associate publicly with her, despite the initiative’s focus on scholarships for foster care children. She highlights these experiences as examples of personal biases impacting professional opportunities, noting “The cancellation continues. An attitude by businesses both big and small that never ceases to surprise me.”

Despite these challenges, Melania Trump reports that her son, Barron, is thriving at New York University’s Stern School of Business, where he began classes in September. In an interview with Fox News, she stated, “He loves his classes and professors. He is doing well, he is thriving and enjoying being in New York City again.” Barron Trump is expected to commute from Trump Tower to attend his classes in Greenwich Village.
