Michael Moore’s Election Day Playlist and Voting Advocacy
As the United States observes Election Day, filmmaker and activist Michael Moore has been actively engaging voters to ensure high turnout and ease the waiting process in long election lines. Moore highlighted the significance of this election, noting that at least 77 million Americans had already voted by mail, drop box, or in person, setting a record.
To help voters pass the time while waiting in line, Moore created a playlist featuring songs about key swing states such as Georgia, North Carolina, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Nevada, and Arizona. The playlist includes a diverse range of artists and songs, such as Ray Charles’ “Georgia on My Mind,” James Taylor’s “Carolina In My Mind,” and Elton John’s “Philadelphia Freedom”.
Moore also encouraged voters to go beyond just casting their ballots. He suggested contacting family and friends to ensure they have voted and offering to drive people to the polls. His message emphasized the importance of collective action and community support during this critical election period.
In addition to his playlist and voting advocacy, Moore has been vocal about issues at polling stations. He reported on social media about incidents where men were allegedly hovering or lurking near voting booths, which he described as numerous and offensive.
