Michigan Vs Nebraska Football Game 2025

LINCOLN, Neb. — The No. 21 Michigan Wolverines defeated Nebraska 30-27 on Saturday, marking their first Big Ten win of the season and improving their record to 3-1 overall. The game took place at Memorial Stadium, where Michigan’s potent rushing attack and a relentless defense played crucial roles.

Freshman quarterback J.J. Underwood, under scrutiny after a previous loss at Oklahoma, led Michigan with a touchdown pass and a key rushing effort. Underwood completed 12 of 22 passes for 105 yards, and scored on a 37-yard run early in the game. “He made some excellent throws and runs. His poise and leadership kept the team focused,” Michigan acting coach Biff Poggi said.

Michigan’s rushing game was dominant, totaling 286 yards. Running back Blake Haynes rushed for 149 yards with a pivotal 75-yard touchdown late in the first half. Another standout was sophomore running back Evan Marshall, who added 80 yards, contributing significantly to the Wolverines’ offensive output.

Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola threw for 308 yards and three touchdowns, including a 52-yard Hail Mary that tied the game just before halftime. Despite the strong performance, Nebraska fell short, suffering their sixth consecutive loss in Big Ten openers. “We battled but came up short against a strong team,” Nebraska coach Matt Rhule said.

After ties at 17 all at halftime, Michigan regained the lead with a field goal and extended it on Marshall’s touchdown run. Nebraska managed to score late but failed on an onside kick, sealing the win for the Wolverines. With this victory, Michigan has now beaten Nebraska five straight times.

The two teams will have a bye week before returning to action, with Michigan hosting Wisconsin and Nebraska facing Michigan State on October 4.
