Corn Dogs Recall Food Safety

NEW YORK (AP) — The U.S. Department of Agriculture‘s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced a massive recall of about 58 million pounds of corn dogs and sausage-on-a-stick products due to potential wood contamination. The recall was issued on Saturday after multiple consumer complaints were reported.

The recalled products, which include “State Fair Corn Dogs on a Stick” and “Jimmy Dean Pancakes & Sausage on a Stick,” come from Hillshire Brands, a subsidiary of Tyson Foods based in Texas. The contamination issue stems from pieces of wood that may be embedded in the batter, a problem identified following reports of five injuries linked to the products.

These corndogs and sausage products were produced between March 17, 2025, and September 26, 2025. Consumers are advised to either discard the items or return them to their place of purchase if they remain unopened. The FSIS is concerned that some of the affected products could still be in homes, schools, and other institutions across the country.

Tyson stated that the issue was confined to one facility located in Haltom City, Texas. Consumers can identify the recalled products by looking for the establishment numbers “EST-582” or “P-894” on the packaging. For further information, consumers can refer to online resources or contact Christina Self, associate director of customer care for Hillshire Brands, at 888-747-7611.

Food recalls due to foreign object contamination are not uncommon, with various materials causing issues in packaged products over the years.
