Former Karnataka Minister and JD(S) MLA, H.D. Revanna, faced a dramatic arrest at his father, ex-Prime Minister Deve Gowda‘s residence in Padmanabha Nagar on May 4, following the rejection of his anticipatory bail plea by the Special Court for Elected Representatives in Bengaluru.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) acted swiftly on intelligence, surrounding the gates of the Padmanabha Nagar residence, where Mr. Revanna was reportedly sheltered. Moments later, defying the standoff, Revanna emerged and surrendered himself, with his father, Deve Gowda, present during the heightened tension outside.

Mr. Revanna was taken into custody by the SIT and transferred to their office at the CID headquarters in Bengaluru. The arrest stems from an abduction case filed against him at the K. R. Nagar Police Station in Mysuru District on May 2.

An alleged victim of sexual misconduct, captured in a distressing video, was reportedly abducted on April 29 under Mr. Revanna’s suspected orders to halt her testimony involving his son’s alleged misdeeds. The SIT had rescued the victim earlier the same day from a farmhouse associated with Mr. Revanna in Kalenahalli, Hunsur Taluk, Mysuru district.

The kidnapping case intensified after Mr. Revanna’s close associate, Satish Babu, was arrested on May 3, further linking the MLA to the unfolding crisis.

With the matriarch rescued, Revanna’s legal battles mounted as his anticipatory bail plea faced the People’s Representative Court scrutiny. Despite a plea for interim relief, the court discontinued hearings, paving the way for Revanna’s immediate arrest.

The SIT’s investigative endeavours extend to the high-profile Prajwal Revanna, Mr. Revanna’s son, embroiled in sexual assault allegations and currently evading authorities abroad post-election. The team’s intent to issue an Interpol Red Notice against Prajwal for his immediate detention is under government deliberation.

In the pursuit of justice, the SIT carried out on-site inspections at Mr. Revanna’s residence in Holenaraspur, where evidence of recorded victim videos implicated both father and son. Siddaramaiah, in a meeting with SIT officials, stressed unwavering commitment to expedited investigations, ensuring thorough proceedings to redress the heinous crimes at hand.
