Pm Modi And Rahul Gandhi Shake Hands After Lok Sabha Speaker Election

After the election of Om Birla as the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi shared a rare moment of bipartisanship by shaking hands in the Parliament.

The two leaders congratulated Om Birla on his victory before exchanging smiles and handshakes, setting aside their political differences for a brief moment.

Om Birla, a three-time MP from the BJP, was elected as the Speaker through a voice vote, marking a historic move due to the lack of consensus between the NDA government and the Congress-led opposition.

The election saw a rare face-off between the BJP and the Congress, with the Congress nominating Kodikunnil Suresh as their candidate for the Speaker’s post.

In a display of unity, PM Modi, Rahul Gandhi, and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju escorted Om Birla to the Speaker’s chair, symbolizing a moment of cross-party collaboration.

PM Modi commended Om Birla for his previous term as Speaker, expressing hope that he would provide guidance to the Parliamentarians for the upcoming five years.

Rahul Gandhi also extended his congratulations to Om Birla on behalf of the entire Opposition and the INDIA alliance, emphasizing the critical role of the Speaker in representing the voice of the people.

Both leaders acknowledged the importance of cooperation and trust between the ruling party and the opposition for the effective functioning of the Lok Sabha.
