Morrissey Concert Threat News

BOSTON, Massachusetts — Morrissey’s scheduled concert at MGM Music Hall on Saturday has been canceled due to a serious threat against his life. The venue announced the cancellation on its Instagram page, citing a “credible threat” prompting the former Smiths frontman to also cancel a performance at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut.

The decision comes after a 26-year-old man, Noah Castellano, was arrested for allegedly threatening Morrissey on social media. Court documents reveal that Castellano had made violent threats about attending Morrissey’s performance at the CityFolk festival in Ottawa, claiming, “I will attempt to shoot you many times and kill you with a very large gun that I own illegally.” Although Morrissey went on to perform the show without incident, the nature of the threats has raised serious concerns.

According to reports, Castellano has been released on $5,000 bail. When reached for comment, he declined to speak to the media, saying, “I’m not interested.” Morrissey, whose career took off with The Smiths in the 1980s, has faced various controversies over the years yet has continued to attract a dedicated fanbase.

The artist’s circumstances come at a time when he has been in the news for attempting to sell his share of The Smiths’ lucrative song catalog. The ongoing noise surrounding his personal and professional life contributes to the sense of urgency around the cancellation of his shows.
