Multiple School Closures and Bus Cancellations Across Northeastern Ontario
Multiple schools have been affected by closures and bus cancellations today across Northeastern Ontario. The North East Tri-Board Student Transportation, which serves the District School Board Ontario North East, the Northeastern Catholic District School Board, and Conseil scolaire public du Nord-Est de l’Ontario, announced the closure of Temagami Public School, Elk Lake Public School, and Kerns Public School due to inclement weather conditions.
Meanwhile, the Nipissing-Parry Sound Student Transportation Services declared the cancellation of all school buses in various corridors including Britt, Nobel, Mactier, Humphrey, Rosseau, McDougall, Whitestone, Parry Sound, Port Loring, Restoule, Nipissing, Commanda, Powassan, Trout Creek, South River, Sundridge, Burk’s Falls, Magnetawan, Katrine, Emsdale, Kearney, Sprucedale, Novar, Redbridge, Thorne, Trout Lake, Four Mile Lake Rd, Callander, Bonfield, East Ferris, West Nipissing Ouest, North Bay, HWY 11, and Mattawa.
Despite the bus cancellations, schools are open for students who can safely make their way there. It is important to note that cancelled bus routes will not operate in the afternoon, so parents are advised to make arrangements for picking up their children at the end of the school day if they were brought by alternative means of transportation.
