Hands Off Protests Against Trump April 5 2025

WASHINGTON — Nationwide protests are set for April 5, organized under the banner “Hands Off! A National Day of Action,” aimed at challenging recent policy decisions by President Donald Trump and his administration. The demonstrations are being fueled by concerns over issues such as health care, immigration, education, and environmental protections.

Organizers state, “Donald Trump and Elon Musk think this country belongs to them. They’re taking everything they can get their hands on and daring the world to stop them. The time to act is now.” The protests will include a coalition of grassroots advocacy organizations and progressive groups.

The focus of the protests is a call for the administration to keep its “hands off” fundamental rights, which critics argue are being endangered by Trump’s actions, described by some as “the most brazen power grab in modern history.”

“Trump, Musk, and their billionaire cronies are orchestrating an all-out assault on our government, our economy, and our basic rights,” organizers said. “If we don’t fight now, there won’t be anything left to save.”

Among the notable groups sponsoring the event are Indivisible and MoveOn. Indivisible was founded in response to Trump’s election in 2016, while MoveOn has been active since the late 1990s, known for mobilizing grassroots campaigns.

The protests will take place across all 50 states, including approximately 50 events planned in Pennsylvania alone. In Philadelphia, the main demonstration will occur at City Hall from noon to 3 p.m., featuring a kickoff rally at a local bagel shop beforehand. Organizers are also promoting a map of all scheduled events through various social media platforms.

The lead-up to the protests has included planning meetings and discussions among various activist groups, solidifying their stance against what they perceive as an ongoing assault on democratic freedoms orchestrated by the Trump administration. Many attendees hope to galvanize public support against perceived governmental overreach and economic inequality.

“This mass mobilization day is our message to the world that we do not consent to the destruction of our government and our economy for the benefit of Trump and his billionaire allies,” organizers emphasized.

The planned events aim to elevate concerns about Trump’s policies, including Medicaid cuts, immigration crackdowns, and educational rollbacks, forming a united front against the administration’s agenda. Protest leaders stress the critical need for citizens to actively defend their rights and local communities.

As activists prepare for a full day of action, the coalition aims to not only raise awareness but also foster a long-standing resistance against ongoing policies that they argue threaten the foundations of American democracy.
