Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo Legislative Session

CARSON CITY, Nevada — As of late Sunday, the Nevada State Legislature has sent 223 bills to Governor Joe Lombardo’s office for review. The first-term Republican governor has only vetoed one bill so far, while he has signed 169.

In comparison, during the 2023 session, Lombardo set a record by vetoing 75 bills, while he signed a total of 535.

Typically, Nevada governors have five days, excluding Sundays, to veto bills after they reach their desk. However, legislative rules allow this timeframe to extend to 10 days in the final days of the session. This indicates that more veto decisions may be revealed as the week progresses.

The Nevada Current has reported on several bills that could be on Lombardo’s veto watch list. The bills have been categorized based on how bipartisan they were during their journey through the Legislature. In the past, Lombardo has vetoed bills that received unanimous support and signed others that faced opposition from Republican caucuses.

The outcome of Lombardo’s decisions on these bills will have significant impacts on the state’s legislative landscape.
