New England Patriots Captain Jabrill Peppers Arrested on Multiple Charges
New England Patriots safety Jabrill Peppers was arrested early Saturday morning on multiple charges stemming from an alleged altercation. According to the Braintree police, officers responded to a disturbance call at a residential address, which led to Peppers’ arrest.
The incident reportedly involved a physical altercation between Peppers and another individual. The 29-year-old athlete has been charged with assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, strangulation, and possession of cocaine. The police did not release any details regarding the condition of the victim, who was treated at the scene by emergency medical services.
Peppers subsequently appeared in Quincy District Court for an arraignment on Monday. During the hearing, not guilty pleas were entered for each of the charges. The court imposed a no-contact order between Peppers and the alleged victim, which his attorney stated Peppers did not oppose, citing evidence that questions the allegations.
The safety, who did not participate in Sunday’s loss against the Miami Dolphins due to a shoulder injury, posted a $2,500 bail. His next court appearance is scheduled for November 22, although his presence has been waived.
Peppers, a New Jersey native, is serving his third season with the New England Patriots. Prior to joining the team, he played for the New York Giants and the Cleveland Browns. The Patriots issued a brief statement confirming their awareness of the incident but declined to make any further comments as the investigation continues.
In connection with the situation, Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo addressed the press, saying, “We’ve informed the NFL about what was going on, and we’re still gathering information. It’s a process,” he told sports radio station WEEI on Monday.
