In a significant political shuffle, President Droupadi Murmu appointed nine new governors and one lieutenant governor late Saturday night. This move sees some established BJP figures stepping into new roles across India.

Among the notable appointments is Santosh Gangawar, a former Union Minister and veteran parliamentarian, who has been appointed as the Governor of Jharkhand. This comes after he was denied a ticket to contest in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Bareilly.

CP Radhakrishnan, currently serving as the Governor of Jharkhand with an additional responsibility for Telangana, will now take over the governorship of Maharashtra. This change aligns with the trend of reshuffling leaders in key state positions.

OP Mathur, who is a former RSS pracharak and currently a vice president in BJP, is heading to Sikkim as the new Governor, replacing Lakshman Acharya. Meanwhile, Acharya has been assigned to Assam, where he will also take on additional duties as the Governor of Manipur.

Gulab Chand Kataria, the former Governor of Assam, will now take charge as the Governor of Punjab and will also serve as the Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh.

Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde, a prominent BJP leader and former Speaker of the Maharashtra Assembly, will become the Governor of Rajasthan. This marks another notable appointment in the political landscape.

Lastly, Ramen Deka, who has previously served as a Lok Sabha MP from Assam, is set to take on the role of Governor in Chhattisgarh, while Jishnu Dev Varma, former Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura, is assigned as Governor of Telangana, which is currently ruled by Congress.
