New Jersey Gubernatorial Debate And Game Shows

NEW YORK, NY — On Wednesday, October 8, the popular game shows “Jeopardy!” and “Wheel of Fortune” will not air at their usual times due to live coverage of the second New Jersey gubernatorial debate. Channel 7 will broadcast the debate from 7 to 8 p.m., leading to the preemption of the shows.

Viewers in New York can catch their favorite game shows later, as they will be shown back-to-back starting at 3:05 a.m. on Thursday, giving fans a chance to set their DVRs or wake up early.

This one-time preemption is in light of the gubernatorial debate featuring Democrat Mikie Sherrill and Republican Jack Ciattarelli. Eyewitness News anchor Bill Ritter and WPVI-TV anchor Tamala Edwards will moderate the debate, which takes place at the New Brunswick Performing Arts Center in New Brunswick, NJ.

The debate will also be available for live viewing on various digital platforms including abc7ny.com, 6abc.com mobile apps, and streaming channels such as ABC News Live. WXTV Univision 41 New York will provide a live stream in Spanish.

Fans of the game shows need not worry, as both will return to their regular schedules on Thursday evening. This preemption is a clear indication of the ongoing political climate and its impact on entertainment schedules.
