New Wuthering Heights Film Set for Valentine’s 2026 Release
Los Angeles, CA – The long-awaited film adaptation of Emily Brontë’s classic novel, “Wuthering Heights,” is set to hit theaters on February 13, 2026, just in time for Valentine’s Day. This contemporary take features Jacob Elordi and Margot Robbie as the iconic star-crossed lovers, Heathcliff and Catherine Earnshaw.
In the story, Heathcliff, an orphan, is taken in by the Earnshaw family, where he falls deeply in love with Catherine. Their romance is complicated by societal norms, jealousy, and betrayal, resulting in a tragic tale that reverberates through generations at Wuthering Heights and the neighboring Thrushcross Grange.
This film, directed by Emerald Fennell, joins a legacy of adaptations, including the classic 1939 version starring Laurence Olivier and Merle Oberon. Fans debate whether Elordi and Robbie can bring new life to these beloved characters, especially given the historical significance of their predecessors.
Elordi, known for his roles in teen dramas, expressed that he hopes his portrayal resonates with audiences. “What Emerald has created is electric; it’s beautiful yet unsettling,” he said in a September 2025 interview.
Robbie described the project as epic and romantic, stating, “You’re thoroughly transported into a stunning world. I think viewers will be captivated by what we bring to these roles.” Her performance has garnered high expectations from the director, who praised Robbie for having a captivating presence that transcends mere acting.
The cast also includes Shazad Latif as Edgar Linton, Catherine’s husband, and the actress playing Isabella Linton, previously portrayed by Geraldine Fitzgerald in 1939, who earned an Oscar nomination for her role.
Notably, Martin Clunes joins the cast as Mr. Earnshaw, the patriarch of the Earnshaw family, a character originally played by Cecil Kellaway in the classic film.
With a fresh and modern twist, this adaptation of “Wuthering Heights” aims to draw both new audiences and longtime fans of Brontë’s work, making it a highly anticipated release in early 2026.
