Marcy Correctional Facility Lockdown Security

MARCY, N.Y. — Multiple New York state prisons, including the Mid-State Correctional Facility, were placed on lockdown Tuesday morning following a threat made against staff members. The New York State Police reported that a man called the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS) headquarters in Albany at approximately 6:46 a.m., threatening to shoot staff outside the Marcy facility.

State Police, along with their Special Operations Response Team, K-9 unit, and drone unit, responded to the scene. After a thorough investigation, no evidence of an immediate threat was found. The lockdown lasted for over four hours as law enforcement ensured the area was secure.

Whitesboro Central School District, located near the prison, was notified of the situation around 10:30 a.m. Additional safety measures were implemented at Whitesboro High School as a precaution, though no safety concerns were reported. School officials remained in contact with law enforcement throughout the incident.

New York State Police stated that the investigation into the threat is ongoing. No arrests have been made, and authorities have not released further details about the caller or the nature of the threat.
