Robert Saleh Nfl Coach Return Rumors

New York, NY — Robert Saleh, the former head coach of the New York Jets, may soon return to the city, according to NFL insider Albert Breer. With coaching vacancies opening up, Saleh is expected to attract interest from several franchises, notably the Tennessee Titans and the New York Giants.

Breer indicated in a recent report that Saleh’s connections within the NFL coaching network and his proven track record make him a strong candidate. “I think Saleh is at least going to elicit interest, and may well land a job,” Breer said. He also noted the potential for Saleh to team up with offensive minds like Mike McDaniel or Mike LaFleur.

Saleh was dismissed by Jets owner Woody Johnson following a disappointing loss against the Minnesota Vikings that left the Jets with a 2-3 record. Since then, he has revitalized his coaching career as the defensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers, where he has helped maintain their competitiveness despite injuries.

Reflecting on his time with the Jets, Saleh acknowledged the challenges he faced. “I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t difficult,” he said ahead of the 49ers’ Week 9 victory over the Giants. “But you’ve got to pick up and get yourself off the grass as quickly as possible and move on.”

Meanwhile, the Titans recently parted ways with head coach Brian Callahan, while the Giants are looking for improvements despite their struggles. Both teams could potentially provide Saleh with the resources he needed during his tenure with the Jets, including a promising quarterback situation.

With quarterbacks Cam Ward of the Titans and Jaxson Dart of the Giants showing promise, Saleh may find an enticing opportunity. “Man, they hit the jackpot on this kid,” Saleh expressed about Dart, the No. 25 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. “He just has a Mahomes-esque quality. I’m just telling you, he is freaking good.”

Whether these factors will lead to Saleh’s return remains uncertain, but the interest is certainly there.
