Organic Farm Construction In Offaly

Offaly, Ireland — Mooney’s Organics Lough Boora Farm is set to expand after receiving approval from Offaly County Council for a new development. The decision was announced on May 9, 2025.

The expansion includes adding two organic growing polytunnel units, implementing a rainwater harvesting system, constructing a new entrance, and completing ancillary works at the farm located in Leabeg. Mooney’s Organics specializes in a variety of organic fruits and vegetables, selling both wholesale and through direct deliveries to customers.

Planning permission for the project was granted with ten conditions, one of which includes a Development Contribution fee of €5,070. The farm aims to increase its capacity to meet growing demand for organic produce in the region.

The owners expressed their excitement about the venture, stating, “Expansion is crucial for us to continue providing fresh, organic foods to our community while ensuring sustainability.”

With this development, Mooney’s Organics aims to enhance its services, which include weekly house box deliveries and sales at local markets.

As Irish consumers increasingly seek organic and locally sourced products, this expansion reflects a shifting trend towards sustainable farming practices.
