Pakistan Emerges Victorious Against Ireland in T20 World Cup Finale
In a thrilling finale, Pakistan secured a remarkable victory against Ireland in the ICC T20 World Cup match held in Florida, not New York, bringing their campaign to an end on a high note.
Chasing a target of 107 runs set by Ireland, Pakistan faced a challenging task but managed to clinch the win in the 19th over, with seven wickets down.
The match witnessed a rollercoaster ride, with Pakistan losing six wickets for 62 runs at one point, raising doubts about their comeback chances.
However, a crucial partnership between Captain Babar Azam and Abbas Afridi, followed by vital contributions from Shahin Afridi, turned the tide in Pakistan’s favor.
Captain Babar remained unbeaten at 32 runs off 34 deliveries, supported by Afridi, who played a quickfire inning of 13 runs off just five balls with two massive sixes.
With this win, Pakistan secured the third position in Group E, with India and the US advancing from the group stage.
Earlier, after losing the toss, Ireland scored 106 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their 20 overs, with Curtis Campher being the standout performer, scoring 31 runs off 19 balls.
Pakistan’s bowlers Shahin Afridi and Imad Wasim led the attack, each grabbing three wickets, while Amir took two crucial wickets, limiting Ireland’s total.
