Papp Company To Manage Fruit And Vegetable Range For German Discount Retailer In Mönchengladbach

A leading German discount retailer has enlisted the services of the Papp Company from Ottobrunn to manage its fruit, vegetable, and fresh produce range for the entire Rheindahlen region. To accommodate this arrangement, property owner Ixocon, a project developer based in Hamburg, is constructing a specially designed 21,000 m² distribution warehouse at Hamburgring 3. Papp Logistics will be the sole tenant of this innovative project.

The city of Mönchengladbach will benefit greatly from this new settlement, especially considering the creation of around 100 jobs, many of which require high qualifications due to the professional handling of food. Norbert Bienen, Managing Director of bienen+partner, emphasizes the positive impact of such success stories on the local economy.

The decision to choose Mönchengladbach as the location for the new building was not a foregone conclusion. The involvement of bienen+partner, who successfully coordinated the negotiations between the property owner and the tenant, proved crucial. Decades of expertise and a strong network played important roles in securing this favorable outcome.

Construction at Hamburgring can commence quickly due to existing building rights for the over 40,000 m² property. Work is set to begin in February, and within a year, the spacious fresh produce hall is expected to be ready for occupancy. The new building will be constructed and insulated according to the latest energy standards, resulting in significant energy savings compared to conventional refrigerated warehouses. The hall aims to receive a gold certification from the German Sustainable Building Council, and additional sustainability features include a photovoltaic system on the roof and complete wastewater seepage.

Proper Nouns: Papp Company, Ottobrunn, Rheindahlen, Ixocon, Hamburg, Hamburgring 3, Mönchengladbach, bienen+partner, Norbert Bienen, Rolf Zimmermann, German Sustainable Building Council.
