St Patrick’s Day Celebrated with Google Doodle Illustration of Ireland
Google Doodle has marked the celebration of St Patrick's Day with a unique illustration portraying the serene beauty of Ireland, bridging cultures across various countries.
This special doodle, created using a handmade ‘wood burning technique’, depicts the picturesque landscape of Ireland at sunrise over lush green countryside and sunset in the city, offering a glimpse into the tranquility of the country.
The St Patrick’s Day doodle was launched across several countries including the United States, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, United Kingdom, Latvia, Croatia, Iceland, and Singapore, spreading the essence of the occasion worldwide.
St Patrick’s Day is traditionally celebrated with colorful parades, a vibrant display of Irish culture. These parades, often featuring traditional Irish dances, bodhráns, and fiddles, echo the lively spirit of the day.
One of the largest St Patrick’s Day parades takes place in New York City, attracting millions of spectators with its grandeur. Boston, however, holds the distinction of hosting one of the earliest celebrations of the day in the United States, dating back to 1737.
Although Ireland was slow to adopt large-scale parades for St Patrick’s Day, over time it has become a global tradition with parades and festivities held in major cities worldwide. The declaration of the day as an official public holiday in Ireland in 1903 further solidified its significance in the country’s calendar.
