Megyn Kelly Campaign Rally

DELMAR, N.Y. — A petition seeking the removal of media personality Megyn Kelly from the Bethlehem Central High School Hall of Fame has gained traction, accumulating nearly 800 signatures. The petition arises from controversial remarks Kelly made regarding Jeffrey Epstein during her SiriusXM show.

Kelly, a graduate of the high school who previously worked for Fox News and NBC News, has recently come under fire for comments about Epstein, specifically discussing his preferences for young women. Her remarks have sparked public outrage, prompting community members to call for her dismissal from the Hall of Fame.

In response to the petition, Bethlehem Central School District Superintendent Jody Monroe issued a statement clarifying that the Hall of Fame program was decommissioned in 2021. Monroe explained that a volunteer committee determined it was not suitable to utilize district resources for vetting public figures.

“The district’s mission is rooted in four core values: academics, character, community, and wellness. Fame is not among them,” Monroe said. “We have the utmost respect for our alumni who uphold these values every day.”

Monroe added that all references to the Hall of Fame have been removed from school property and the district website. The situation has ignited discussions about the responsibilities of educational institutions in honoring their alumni.
