Philadelphia’s 6 ABC Announces New Sports Anchor Jason Dumas
6 ABC (WPVI-TV) Action News in Philadelphia has announced the hiring of Jason Dumas, a native of the area, as their new sports anchor and reporter. Dumas will be taking over the position from veteran sports anchor Jamie Apody. His arrival in Philadelphia is scheduled for November, marking a return to his hometown.
Dumas, who hails from Haverford, confirmed his new role through an announcement on his personal X account, the platform formerly known as Twitter. He expressed excitement about joining the station he watched as a child, stating, “It’s the station I watched growing up. And serving the community that raised me is a responsibility that I will take great pride in. I am coming home.”
Before his appointment at 6 ABC, Dumas was based in San Francisco, working with KRON-TV since 2018. His career trajectory also includes prior roles as a production assistant at ESPN and experience as a sports anchor/reporter in various locations including Bismarck, North Dakota; Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and most recently, Hagerstown, Maryland.
In addition to his television credentials, Dumas has been involved with the Golden State Warriors G-League team in Santa Cruz as a sideline reporter. He has also hosted a sports talk radio show on 95.7 The Game, a station based in San Francisco.
