Philip Glenister Explores Ancestry with John Simm on ITV’s DNA Journey
Philip Glenister, known for his acclaimed roles in the television series “Life On Mars” and its sequel “Ashes To Ashes,” continues to capture the interest of British audiences. Tonight, the 61-year-old actor will appear in ITV‘s “DNA Journey With Ancestry,” airing at 9pm, alongside his co-star from “Life On Mars,” John Simm. This reunion, 17 years after their initial partnership on screen, will see the pair delve into their family histories, with Glenister uncovering tales of “potential fortunes and superstar opera singers.”
Philip Glenister’s journey into the entertainment industry began with his work as a theatre runner before he transitioned to a film publicist role. His ambitions ultimately led him to the stage as he pursued acting studies at London‘s Central School Of Speech And Drama. Glenister made his television debut as Greg Hunter on an episode of “Minder” in 1991, marking the start of a successful career.
His passion for acting runs in the family. Philip is the younger brother of actor Robert Glenister, known for his performances in critically acclaimed series such as “Spooks,” “Hustle,” and “Sherwood.” Their father, John Glenister, is a respected figure in television direction, having worked on “Emma,” “Casanova,” and “The Six Wives Of Henry VIII.”
The actor’s personal life is equally notable, as he is married to Beth Goddard, an actress with credits in “Outlander,” “Doc Martin,” and “Endeavour.” Goddard also played Pamela Dobson in the seventh series of “Call The Midwife.” The couple married in 2006 after meeting at a birthday celebration in 1997 and share two daughters, Charlotte and Millie. They reside in East Sheen, London.
Glenister is set to return to the screen in the upcoming drama “Bergerac,” portraying Arthur Wakefield alongside actors Damien Malony, Zoe Wanamaker, and Stephen Wight.
