UP Police Recruitment Exam Cancelled Due to Alleged Paper Leak Scandal
The government of Uttar Pradesh has taken the decision to cancel the recent police constable recruitment examination amid claims of a paper leak scandal. The re-examination of the test, which took place on February 17 and 18, is set to be held within the next six months.
Expressing zero tolerance towards any malpractices, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister announced via Twitter that more than 48 lakh candidates applied for the recruitment exam, making it the largest such examination in the state’s history. However, reports of the question paper being leaked prior to the exam surfaced, leading to the immediate cancellation, as integrity of exams is a paramount concern.
The protestors, including aspirants and candidates, gathered at Eco Garden in Lucknow to voice their displeasure regarding the leaked question paper. Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra criticized BJP leaders for the recently reported scandals, demanding a CBI inquiry into the matter and urging strict actions against those responsible.
The state government has not only committed to organizing a re-examination within six months, but has also decided to engage the Special Task Force (STF) to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter. The Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) buses will ferry candidates to the exam centers at no cost.
