President Tinubu Appoints Didi Esther Walson-Jack as Head of Civil Service of the Federation

President Bola Tinubu has officially announced the appointment of Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.

The appointment, set to take effect on August 14, 2024, will see Mrs. Walson-Jack succeed Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, who is due to retire on August 13, according to reports from Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President.

Mrs. Walson-Jack, who was appointed as a Federal Permanent Secretary in 2017, has served across various ministries within the federal government.

In his statement, President Tinubu expressed his gratitude to the outgoing Head of Service, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, and urged the incoming Head of Service to bring innovation, integrity, and adherence to civil service regulations.

Before joining the federal civil service, Mrs. Walson-Jack served as the Solicitor-General of Bayelsa and later as the Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Justice.

She holds a Bachelor of Law degree from the prestigious University of Lagos and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1987.

Mrs. Walson-Jack’s previous roles include serving as Permanent Secretary in various ministries such as Niger Delta Affairs, Power, Water Resources, Sanitation, and Education.

She is married to Hon. Nimi Walson-Jack, a former General Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
