Illinois Governor Jb Pritzker Speech New Hampshire 2025

CONCORD, N.H. — Illinois Governor JB Pritzker delivered a passionate address to New Hampshire Democrats on April 27, 2025, calling for a more aggressive response to the Trump administration. Speaking at the annual McIntyre-Shaheen 100 Club Dinner, Pritzker’s remarks resonated with over 800 attendees eager for action against Republican policies.

Pritzker, a key figure in the Democratic Party and a potential 2028 presidential candidate, criticized party members for their cautious approach. He labeled this “culture of incrementalism” as a reason why Republicans have maintained dominance, urging Democrats to abandon it. “It’s time to fight, everywhere, all at once,” he declared.

In a moment of heightened urgency, Pritzker stated, “Never before in my life have I called for mass protests, for mobilization, for disruption. But I am now. These Republicans cannot know a moment of peace.” This call to action highlighted his frustration with the current political environment and indicated a desire for more decisive movements from Democrats.

He did not hesitate to criticize his fellow Democrats, referring to them as “do-nothing Democrats” who point fingers at marginalized communities for political losses. “Those same do-nothing Democrats want to blame our losses on our defense of Black people, of trans kids, of immigrants, instead of their own lack of guts and gumption,” he said.

Pritzker addressed the troubling consequences of the Trump administration’s policies, especially related to immigration. He recalled recent wrongful deportations of U.S. citizens, stating, “Remember, Trump, just last week, arrested and deported three children under eight years old. U.S. citizens, all of them.” His comments were met with loud applause, echoing the crowd’s agreement with his views on protecting constitutional rights.

Further emphasizing the fight against Trump, Pritzker described the administration’s actions as “authoritarian power grabs” and urged party members to confront them directly. He expressed hope that individuals supporting Trump would eventually face repercussions, declaring, “When we survive this shameful episode of American history, their portraits will be relegated to the museum halls reserved for tyrants and traitors.”

Pritzker’s speech also warned of the broader implications of Trump’s policies, including potential Medicaid cuts affecting millions in Illinois, and a critique of the administration’s education and healthcare positions. “The country’s small businesses don’t deserve to be bankrupted by unsustainable tariffs,” he remarked, calling for a fairer approach to governance.

This event marked a significant moment for Pritzker, hinting at his readiness to play a prominent role in the party as the 2028 election approaches. His active engagement with party activists and donors suggests his ambitions may extend toward a presidential run.

Compared to other potential candidates like California Governor Gavin Newsom, Pritzker’s willingness to directly confront both the Trump administration and his fellow Democrats sets him apart within the party’s evolving landscape.
