Protesters Rally Against Elise Stefanik at Republican Awards Event

HALFMOON, New York — Scores of protesters rallied outside The Fairways of Halfmoon golf course on Thursday, May 1, 2025, to express their opposition to U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik. The congresswoman was scheduled to be the keynote speaker at a Saratoga County Republican Party awards event that evening.
The protest was organized by Indivisible ADK/Saratoga, in collaboration with Show Up and Sons of Liberty. Attendees held signs and chanted slogans such as, “Hey ho, Elise Stefanik’s got to go!” They aimed to voice their grievances not only against Stefanik, a Republican, but also against what they described as “crimes against the Constitution” and the actions of former President Donald Trump.
Participants expressed their discontent over various political issues, advocating for accountability and transparency. Many drivers passed by honking in support of the demonstrators, adding to the atmosphere. The gathering highlighted the deep political divisions within the community, particularly regarding the influence of national politics on local representatives.
Protest leader Mary Johnson stated, “We want to remind our community that there are voices of dissent and concern about the current political climate. It’s important to stand up for our values and hold our leaders accountable.” The event drew attention not only to Stefanik but also to broader issues resonating among constituents in the region.
As the evening approached, the protesters remained steadfast, with a strong turnout reflecting the ongoing tensions surrounding political representation in halfmoon. The awards event proceeded as planned, but it was overshadowed by the significant public outcry directed at the congresswoman.
