Providence Mayor Honors Local Jeopardy! Contestant Matt Harvey with Citizen Citation
Providence Mayor Brett Smiley recently surprised Matt Harvey, the executive director of Integra Community Care Network, with a Citizen Citation in recognition of his impressive Jeopardy! run. Harvey, a resident of Providence and a Brown University graduate, was competing in the Second Chance Tournament on the iconic Alex Trebek Stage.
Harvey initially appeared in November 2022 but lost to Cris Pannullo, who had a remarkable winning streak going on the show. Returning for a shot at the Tournament of Champions, Harvey faced off against Deb Bilodeau on the game show’s stage. While he didn’t advance in the tournament, his performance was nothing short of excellent.
The Citizen Citation awarded by Mayor Smiley commended Harvey’s intellect, quick wit, and competitive spirit that captivated audiences. The honor also highlighted the talent and determination that Harvey brought to the forefront, representing the city of Providence in a positive light.
Not the only Rhode Islander competing in the Second Chance Tournament, Harvey was joined by another local, a Pawtucket native and high school Spanish teacher. Despite Harvey’s impressive Jeopardy! run, he, unfortunately, bowed out in the first round, but his impact and contribution to the show were definitely memorable.
The tribute by Mayor Smiley came during a meeting with both Care New England and the Integra leadership team, where Harvey was being acknowledged for his achievement on the show. Surrounded by colleagues, including his family, Harvey was thrilled to receive the Citizen Citation, marking his journey on Jeopardy! with a fitting tribute.
