Putin: Struggle for New World Order Underway Following Trump’s Election Win
Russian President Vladimir Putin has condemned the United States for its efforts to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia in Ukraine, emphasizing that a significant struggle is underway to shape a new world order. This statement came during a speech at the Valdai discussion club in the Black Sea resort of Sochi, a day after Donald Trump won the U.S. presidential election.
Putin criticized Western politicians for their “exorbitant adventurism” in seeking to defeat Russia, a country with the largest arsenal of nuclear weapons. He argued that the West’s attempts to isolate Russia after the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991 have been arrogant and misguided. Putin described the US-led NATO military alliance as an anachronism and stated that Russia does not consider Western civilization to be its enemy, despite efforts by the U.S. and its allies to isolate Moscow.
The Russian president emphasized that the world is undergoing significant changes, with many powerful countries not wanting to isolate Russia. He noted that the former structure of the world is “irrevocably disappearing” and that a serious, irreconcilable struggle is unfolding for the formation of a new world order. Putin reiterated that the world needs Russia and that no decisions by supposed superiors in Washington or Brussels can change this reality.
Putin also expressed his readiness to engage in dialogue with Donald Trump, suggesting that any ideas for facilitating an end to the Ukraine crisis would be considered. This stance indicates a potential shift in diplomatic relations between Russia and the U.S. under Trump’s second term).
