Rahul Gandhi Leading by Large Margin in Wayanad and Raebareli Seats

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi is currently leading in the two Lok Sabha seats of Wayanad in Kerala and Raebareli in Uttar Pradesh as counting for the 2024 general elections is ongoing.

In Wayanad, Rahul Gandhi, the incumbent MP, is ahead by a significant margin with 1,43,081 votes against his closest competitor, CPI veteran leader Annie Raja, who has received 1,13,281 votes, as reported by the Election Commission of India.

The BJP candidate and Kerala party chief, K Surendran, is trailing in third place with 51,661 votes.

On the other hand, in the Congress stronghold of Raebareli, Rahul Gandhi is leading the race with 1,47,935 votes against BJP candidate Dinesh Pratap Singh, who is currently trailing with 71,054 votes.

As per the India Today-Axis My India exit poll, Rahul Gandhi is predicted to secure victory in Wayanad and potentially win a consecutive term.

In Raebareli, the candidate line-up also includes Thakur Prasad Yadav from the Bahujan Samaj Party.

Considered one of the safest seats for Congress, Raebareli has been a family bastion for the oldest Indian political party, with UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi victorious in the Lok Sabha polls in 2004, 2009, 2014, and 2019.

This year’s elections in Raebareli witnessed a bout between Rahul Gandhi from Congress and BJP’s Dinesh Pratap Singh.

Raebareli went to polls in the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2024 held on 20 June, registering a polling percentage of 58.12 as per the Election Commission of India (ECI).

Aside from Raebareli, the seats of Amethi, Lucknow, Mohanlalganj, Hamirpur, Jalaun, Jhansi, Banda, Fatehpur, Kaushambhi, Faizabad, Barabanki, Kaiserganj, and Gonda also had polling in UP’s voting phases.

Furthermore, Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency, where the polling occurred during the fifth phase on 20 April, recorded a voting percentage of 73.57.
