The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have announced an extension to the application deadlines for the Non-Technical Popular Category (NTPC) recruitment exam for 2024. This extension allows candidates to apply for undergraduate posts until October 27, 2024, and for graduate posts until October 20. The recruitment drive aims to fill a total of 11,558 vacancies, with 3,445 positions available for undergraduate-level roles and 8,113 for graduate-level roles.

An important update to the vacancy table includes considerations for the Persons with Disabilities (PwD) category. The RRB has accordingly extended the application deadline for Divyang candidates—those with 40 percent or more disability—until October 27. This was previously set for October 20. Candidates from this category can submit applications and pay fees until October 28. Furthermore, any necessary corrections to applications for Divyang candidates can be made between October 30 and November 6.

The eligibility criteria for the RRB NTPC 2024 examination stipulate that candidates for graduate-level posts, including positions like Goods Train Manager and Station Master, must possess a graduate degree from a recognized university. For undergraduate posts, such as Junior Clerk cum Typist, candidates must have completed the 12th standard or equivalent, and demonstrate typing proficiency in either Hindi or English.

The application process involves several steps. Applicants must visit the official Railway Recruitment Board website, rrbapply.gov.in, and follow specific instructions to complete the application, which includes filling in personal and educational information and uploading required documents. The application fee stands at Rs 500 for general candidates, while PwD, female, transgender, ex-servicemen, SC, ST, minority communities, and economically backward candidates need to pay Rs 250.

In financial terms, candidates selected for the Junior Clerk cum Typist role will receive a monthly salary of Rs 19,900. Similarly, the positions of Accounts Clerk cum Typist and trainee clerk are offered the same remuneration, whereas the Commercial cum Ticket Clerk role is compensated with a monthly salary of Rs 21,700.
